The client is seeking a Head of Development to lead new club developments and refurbishments across France and Switzerland. This senior role oversees the full development lifecycle, from site acquisition and feasibility through to construction, completion, and operational handover.
The organisation is a prestigious private members’ club focused on exceptional wine and hospitality experiences, bringing together enthusiasts in a vibrant, design-led environment. As the brand expands internationally, the development team ensures new clubs maintain these high standards.
Based in France, the role reports to the Global Development Director and involves close collaboration with stakeholders including the executive team, investors, consultants, contractors, and suppliers. The ideal candidate is a technically strong, commercially minded leader experienced in managing complex construction projects while aligning with operational and design goals.
This position suits an experienced development professional comfortable overseeing projects from inception to completion and working across design, construction, and commercial aspects.
RESPONSIBILITies:
Lead the development and construction of new club locations and refurbishment projects across the French and Swiss portfolio.
Oversee projects from site acquisition and feasibility through planning approvals, construction, and final handover
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with brand and operational standards.
Work closely with consultants and contractors to manage design development, tender processes, and construction delivery.
Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders, providing regular project updates and progress reports.
Support pre-opening planning and ensure smooth handover to operational teams.
Manage post-completion processes including defects, snagging, and contractor coordination.
Lead value engineering and ensure ESG considerations are integrated throughout development stages.
Manage CAPEX schedules, project budgets, and financial reporting in collaboration with QS and finance teams.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
Significant experience delivering development and construction projects, ideally within high-end hospitality, F&B, or private members’ clubs.
Proven track record managing projects from concept through to completion.
Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets, CAPEX planning, and project financial controls.
Experience working with multidisciplinary consultant teams across architecture, design, and construction.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage investors, consultants, and senior leadership.
Experience delivering projects across France and Europe.
Fluent French and English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
