An internationally recognised design studio is seeking a Director of Interiors to lead and grow its commercial workplace interiors offering. This is a newly created, strategic position designed to elevate the studio’s creative output, expand its client base, and reinforce its presence within the sector. The role combines design leadership, project oversight, and business development responsibilities at the highest level.
As a figurehead for the interior design discipline, you will guide the vision of the team while fostering strong, long-term relationships with clients and collaborators. You will work closely with the wider leadership group to align interiors with the studio’s broader architectural and strategic ambitions. Your impact will be visible across design direction, team culture, project quality, and commercial performance.
This is a key appointment within a high-performing, collaborative international studio known for delivering award-winning work. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in commercial workplace interiors, with a portfolio that reflects both creative excellence and strategic insight.
As Director, you will lead the interiors team across all stages - from concept through to completion - while also acting as a public-facing ambassador for the studio. You will take responsibility for ensuring that each project upholds the studio’s design values, achieves commercial objectives, and meets the evolving needs of clients in the workplace sector.
Your role will also include active participation in business development, thought leadership, and mentoring emerging talent. A confident communicator and natural collaborator, you will thrive in an environment that values bold ideas, teamwork, and rigour.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead design direction and creative output for commercial workplace interior projects
Represent the studio externally with clients, collaborators, and industry bodies
Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients
Oversee project resourcing, scheduling, budgeting, and team management
Develop and implement strategies for growing the interiors team and pipeline
Collaborate with studio leadership on commercial planning and operational goals
Contribute to new business pitches, tenders, and high-profile design reviews
Champion a studio culture of innovation, inclusion, and design excellence
Required Experience:
Minimum 10+ years’ experience in interior architecture or interior design
Proven track record of delivering large-scale commercial workplace projects
Strong leadership and team management experience
Confidence in client-facing roles, with excellent communication and presentation skills
Deep understanding of the commercial drivers behind workplace design
Experience developing and executing project and team strategies
Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex project workflows
OTHER INFORMATION:
Occasional international travel may be required for key client meetings or project reviews
This is a full-time leadership role with flexibility around working arrangements
The role reports directly to studio leadership and is instrumental in shaping the studio’s future interiors direction
Remuneration is competitive and aligned with the seniority of the role
