Interior design director
client-side
SALARY:£80,000-£90,000
A well-known design brand is seeking a Design Director to join a newly established team.
JOB SUMMARY:
A well-known design brand is seeking a Design Director to join a newly established team. This role will take creative ownership across hospitality, leisure, and residential projects within this new division. The Design Director will set the overall creative vision, supported by a team of interior designers and FF&E specialists who are also new to the business.
Projects will be global in scope and will require a strong understanding of how to work within established brand guidelines while tailoring design outcomes to suit individual clients. This role is well suited to someone looking to move client-side and take long-term ownership of brand design direction, enjoying the balance between creative expression and working within the parameters of a legacy brand.
TASKS:
A key part of the position will be building the foundations of the team. This includes establishing processes and structures, setting up systems for documentation and filing, and developing clear protocols from initial client brief through to final handover. The role suits an individual with vision who is comfortable setting something up from scratch while simultaneously overseeing live projects with the support of a growing team.
The first year will be heavily focused on building structure, implementing processes, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently alongside the creative vision. As such, this is not a purely creative role. It requires someone who can confidently manage both the operational and commercial aspects of a studio environment while nurturing creative output.
The successful candidate is likely to bring a strong blend of creative leadership and operational capability. They will enjoy working within a design-led environment while understanding the importance of structure, efficiency, and accountability.
YOUR REQUIREMENTS:
BA (Hons) in interior design/architecture or a related field
10+ years’ experience delivering projects across all stages
Strong, refined design aesthetic with experience in sophisticated interior environments
Proven experience working within and interpreting design and brand guidelines
Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a small team
Experience operating within a commercial or operationally focused role
Comfortable managing £1m+ project budgets
Background working within a creative, design-led business
Experience within an interiors or design-and-build studio is highly desirable
This is an exciting opportunity for a Design Director who enjoys shaping teams, setting direction, and building something meaningful within a respected and established brand.
