Technical Director, Paris

Global Architecture & Design firm

Paris, France

A well-established international architecture and design studio is seeking a Technical Director to join their Paris studio.

JOB SUMMARY:

A well-established international architecture and design studio is seeking a Technical Director to join their Paris studio. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for guiding the technical execution of projects across architecture and interior design, ensuring design integrity and delivery excellence from concept through to construction.

The Technical Director will play a central role in aligning project teams with specific technical and design requirements, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining the highest standards of technical quality. This role is hands-on and requires a strong understanding of detailing, documentation, construction processes, and client liaison.  Technical designers with site experience in France, who understand local building regulations and budgeting, would indeed be ideal for projects in that region.

The position suits a senior architect or technical lead with international experience, ideally in Europe and who has a collaborative mindset. The successful candidate will act as a mentor and guide to junior staff, working closely with senior designers and management to lead multiple projects simultaneously.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing design integrity with technical rigour, and who wants to play a strategic role in the long-term development of a growing Paris studio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical development and execution of multiple architecture and interior design projects.

  • Oversee project delivery across all phases, from early test fits through construction completion.

  • Direct teams in the preparation of detailed construction documents.

  • Collaborate with studio leadership to ensure effective team structure and resourcing.

  • Provide technical mentorship and support to junior and mid-level designers.

  • Ensure projects meet legal, technical, and quality standards.

  • Maintain active relationships with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Ensure adherence to building legislation and internal quality management systems.

  • Represent the studio in client meetings and project presentations.

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or Interior Design.

  • 10+ years of professional experience, including project leadership through construction stages.

  • Strong technical expertise in construction documents, detailing and site.

  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is essential.

  • Experience delivering large-scale workplace projects is preferred.

  • European project experience is a plus.

  • Comprehension in both French and English.

  • Strong design sensibility with the ability to enhance concepts through technical development.

  • Experience mentoring and managing teams.

  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and corporate clients.

Life at the studio:

The studio offers a healthy and balanced working culture, with comprehensive benefits including medical and dental insurance, pension, season ticket loans, and twice-yearly bonus opportunities.

As part of their commitment to professional development, the studio provides reimbursement for relevant qualifications, exam fees, and selected tuition programmes.
