JOB SUMMARY:

This is a pivotal leadership role within a growing, close-knit education team of five. They are looking for a registered architect who is passionate about design, adept at delivery, and eager to help shape the future of our practice. You will be given significant creative freedom, there are no house styles here and the flexibility to achieve a fulfilling work-life balance.

You will be a key player in both project delivery and business growth. This role requires a confident leader who can manage a team, win new work, and expand our network within the education sector. You will be the primary point of contact for clients, leading presentations and workshops, and engaging directly with end-users to create spaces that truly make a difference for learners.

Working closely with the studio directors, you will have the autonomy to lead projects from concept to completion, championing design quality and innovation at every stage. KEY Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a project team, providing clear direction, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative studio culture. 

  • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to work-winning efforts, pitches, and growing the studio's network. 

  • Lead the preparation and development of technical drawing packages and implementation documents. 

  • Generate and champion creative, buildable design solutions from concept through to completion. 

  • Lead client meetings, design workshops, and presentations, effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including end-users and trusts. 

  • Validate compliance with building codes, planning, and zoning requirements. 

  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies to deliver project goals. 

  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues and design challenges. 

  • Participate in internal project reviews, quality assurance, and design crits. 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • RIBA or ARB-registered architect with a minimum of 6+ years' post-qualification experience. 

  • Proven experience leading and managing DfE  project teams. 

  • Demonstrable experience or a strong aptitude for business development, networking, and winning work. 

  • Excellent client-facing skills, with confidence in presenting, pitching, and consulting with diverse stakeholder groups. 

  • Proven delivery experience across all project stages (RIBA 0–7). 

  • Strong technical and design skills, with a clear creative voice. 

  • Proficiency in Revit (essential), with experience in BIM360/ACC workflows. 

  • Working knowledge of UK building systems, codes, and construction processes. 

  • Detail-oriented with a passion for quality and innovation in design.
